Postpartum doula Anne Arundel County Maryland

MEET YOUR doula

First and foremost, I am proud to say I am a mom, and my passion is helping families postpartum!

As a DONA International Certified Postpartum Doula, my goal is to nurture and empower families in their new roles. I have the knowledge to provide evidence-based support through emotional and physical recovery.

Until the birth of our second child I worked as a corporate event planner. I loved my job, I loved the hustle and bustle, and most importantly I loved creating memorable experiences for my clients and their guests. It was after welcoming our second child that my priorities shifted and I made the decision to be a stay-at-home mom. The transition was not easy and while I was grateful for the opportunity to be home with my children I also wanted something of my own that allowed me the flexibility to care for my family.

After lots of self-exploration and reflection I could say with confidence I had given birth to my purpose! Had I never become a mom, I may have never gone down the path to becoming a certified postpartum doula. Having had two completely different postpartum experiences, I knew I wanted to provide support to other mothers in their “fourth trimester,” a time that is both delicate and special. From my personal experience I understand both the highs and lows of the weeks following delivery.

SUPPORT and CARE

  • Postpartum healing is not just the physical recovery after delivery but also encompasses mental and emotional healing as well. Each and every birthing experience is special and unique, I will listen deeply and provide a safe space to process your birth story. Along with that, I will answer your questions, address any concerns and provide evidence based information and guidance to empower you to make the best decisions for your family. I provide support for mothers following cesarean section or other birth experiences requiring additional healing time, as well as referrals to local resources and companionship.

  • However you decide to feed your baby I’m happy to help. I am able to assist with breastfeeding support, bottle feeding, bottle & nipple selection, pumping, cleaning and sanitizing bottles.

  • Hands on newborn care, education and demonstration of techniques in newborn care:

    - diapering

    - swaddling

    - bathing

    - burping

    - baby wearing

    - soothing strategies

    - car seat safety education

  • While bringing home a new baby is a fun and exciting experience, it is also a major adjustment. I would be honored to offer emotional support and care for your child as they transition into their new role as a big sibling. I can help create alone time and special moments for just you and your older child. Making dedicated one-on-one time can result in positive feelings towards having to share attention.

  • I will help with light housework, including dishes, baby laundry and tidying so you can focus on resting, healing, and bonding with your new baby. In addition, I am happy to assist with setting up efficient organization systems in your home as well as restocking feeding and changing stations. I strive to help families establish systems that are easy to maintain.

BEEN THERE, done that, and I GET IT!

As a mother of two and having two completely different postpartum experiences I know firsthand the physical, mental and emotional highs and lows one feels after welcoming a new baby. My passion lies in being able to listen, encourage and help families as they navigate their new season. I have learned that the smallest gestures make the biggest difference and I want that for each and every family I serve.

KIND WORDS.

KIND WORDS.

  • "YOU AND YOUR BABY CAN BE IN NO BETTER HANDS THAN THOSE OF JANA.

She gives you sisterly love and attention as she helps you transition into motherhood and organizes your life accordingly. She empowers you with tools and kindness you need to get the best start on your journey.”

    Ashley W. | Vienna, VA

  • "JANA WAS AN ABSOLUTE LIFELINE FOR ME AND MY HUSBAND AS WE WERE NEW PARENTS TO OUR NEWBORN DAUGHTER.

Our relatives lived far from us, and we had no support just days after our daughter was born. Jana's patience and warm approach to assisting me as a new mom and caring for my daughter was extremely valuable. Jana's knowledge as a postpartum doula is top of class. Her kind approach will not disappoint. I am so grateful for her assistance, and 5 years later, I still use Jana's tips in raising our daughter. Your family will love her services!”

    Kelly B. | Berlin, MD

  • "...I COULD GO ON FOR DAYS BUT IT STILL WOULDN'T BE ENOUGH TO SHOW HOW AMAZING JANA IS!

I promise if you welcome her into your family, you will gain a friend for life.”

Dominic R. | Upper Marlboro, MD

  • "JANA HAS TRULY MADE A DIFFERENCE IN NOT ONLY MY LIFE, THE LIFE OF MY FAMILY, BUT IN MY OVERALL OUTLOOK.

There are many wonderful things that I can say about Jana. A few words that come to mind are mindful, thoughtful, loving, and knowledgeable. She also, has the perfect level of assertiveness to support new or experienced mamas. Most of the time, whether you are a new or experienced mom, it’s hard to let your walls down and be able to trust that someone truly has your best interest and wellbeing at heart, but I was able to find this in Jana. She is attentive, intentional and has the wonderful ability to recognize the places in which she can ease the burdens and create maximum capacity and efficiency.”
